2013 Pumpkin Drop Information & Registration

TBM Avenger

It’s time again for our annual Pumpkin Drop! We look forward to this family event every year now. It’s a great opportunity to test your flying skills, learn about flying, meet new people, and just plain immerse yourself into the fun world of General Aviation. Everyone here at St. Charles County Smartt Field gets involved, including our friends at the Commemorative Air Force. This year for the first time they plan to leverage the strengths of their TBM Avenger in the competition. We suspect our Cessna’s are no match for its targeting capabilities, but who cares – it’s not every day you can watch this veteran go to work on a target. Come on out and join the fun!

When will the TBM Avenger be torpedoing the target with pumpkins?

The CAF Grumman TBM-3E Avenger is expected to torpedo the field sometime between noon and 1:00 pm, so get here early. There’ll be plenty of opportunities to meet the crew, inspect the aircraft up close, and take some memorable pictures.

First place gets 50% of the entry fees collected, second place gets 35%, and third place gets 15%. A point system is used to determine the winner, and the crew with the lowest number of points wins. A point is given for each foot (up to 50 feet) from the center of the target.
